Schloss Moxiberg

Several models for the castle were considered, and the consultation included contacts in Switzerland in the hopes of finding one which fit my recollection of a typical Swiss castle. The model for Schloss Moxiberg is the recently re-released Kibri Branzoll. The real Branzoll is in the south Tyrolean alps, but it has the right look as far as I'm concerned.

Although my layout is HO scale, this model is in N scale to use forced perspective to give the impression of a higher, more distant structure.

The first thing Sam noticed was the two base pieces didn't match up well at all. This required much filing, hacking, sawing and sanding.

Getting the castle base right.

A good deal of effort was expended here.

The final results as seen in the photos below certainly paid off.

The back side of the castle. Note the seam in the rock base is still visible in spite of Sam's best efforts. This will be hidden when the rest of the foliage is in place.
