Central Arizona Chapter
November Minutes
The November meeting was held on the 8th at the home of Jim and Marge
Poor.
A huge thank you to Marge and Jim for their hospitality and delicious
meal. Present at the meeting were CJ Hanselman, Jim (and Marge) Poor,
Steve Young, Alfred Rayher, Andy O'Brien, Tim and Karen Johnson.
The meeting was called to order at 1:50 PM by CJ.
Old Business:
- Modules:
- We received a back order from EuroRail Hobbies of K track which
we thought had been canceled. CJ will ask Bob to try to sort this out.
- To reimburse Bob and Andy for track for the corner modules,
each member was requested to contribute $40 between now and the December meeting.
- December meeting.
New Business:
- Auditing Books
- Jim suggested that at the end of the year one of the officers
review the books.
- Modules:
- CJ donated two Faller structures and some foam material for
scenery.
- There are no known meets coming up, so we should have some time
to work on scenery at a slower pace than our preparation for Rail Fair.
- Toys for Tots: Donations for this and for the St. Mary's
Food Bank should be brought to the December meeting.
- Advertising: Jim suggested coming up with an 8 1/2 by 11
trifold flier advertising our chapter, and take them to McCormick Rail
Park, and to hobby shops which would be interested in making them
available to their customers.
- Rail Fair Next Year:
- It took about 45 minutes to set up the four corner modules.
Something to keep in mind when we do it again.
- Some leveling was needed due to the unevenness of the ground.
- Need to come up with ways to keep little fingers from touching
the layouts.
- We need to be better prepared for things that might go wrong. A
repair kit and lubrication would be useful.
- We need to think of a method of transporting modules so they
can be stacked with spacers to allow for scenery.
- Service your loks before bringing them.
- European Train Magazine Subscriptions: Due the
increasingly high cost of these magazines, some consideration was given
to the Chapter purchasing a subscription to Continental Modeller, and
issues be bucked around so each member gets a chance to read them. Tim
will check out the subscription price for the next year.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:40.
Our next meeting is at the home of Andy O'Brien on December 13 at
11 AM. We will elect officers at this meeting. Be prepared to nominate
and server!
Respectfully submitted,
Tim Johnson, Secretary
