Central
Arizona Chapter
July Minutes
The July meeting was held on the 7th at Andy O'Brien's house. Thanks to Andy and Debbie for their wonderful hospitality.
Present at the meeting were Andy O'Brien, Kent Taylor, Tim and Karen Johnson.
Since the president was not able to attend, we did not hold a formal
meeting. We had a general discussion of European trains and some
interesting tourist trains in the U.S. Two items affecting our chapter
were discussed.
- Meeting frequency
We are concerned that meeting only four times a year causes a loss of
continuity and if a member misses a meeting, six months will have
elapsed between meetings for that person. This may contribute to member
discouragement. We will ask Bob his opinion, and seek input from the
other members for their preferences. Also open for discussion is
whether the second Saturday of the month is the right choice. We can
use e-mail to discuss and decide.
- McCormick Park Rail Fair
We need to decide whether we will participate as a chapter. The Rail
Fair is the second weekend of October. Andy has already said he will
not be attending due to a prior commitment. If we decide to participate
as a chapter, we need to start planning now. We need firm commitments
from the members as to which day or days they can be there. We need to
decide whether to bring the corner modules, and what equipment we will
run on them. We also need to decide if further scenery building will
continue on the two modules for which this has already started. Tim has
stated he will add scenery to one of the two bare corner modules he and
Karen are storing.
Our next meeting is will be held in October unless it is decided to meet more frequently.
Reminder: Please bring any issues of Continental Modeler with you so
they can be passed on to others to read.
Respectfully submitted,
Tim Johnson, Secretary
