Central Arizona Chapter
July Minutes
The July meeting was held on the 21st at Marie Calendar's in Chandler.
The meeting was called to order by CJ at 12:30 PM. In attendance were
C.J. Hanselman (and Pam), Fred
Rayher (and
Virginia), Jim Poor (and Marge), Tim and Karen Johnson. Also present
was Kent Taylor.
Old Business:
Modules-- Mr. Kuhn of Kuhn Eurobahn Trains
sent CJ a price quote for modules which included shipping. Since the
cost is quite high, CJ proposed we purchase the raw materials locally
and build our own. After discussing this, and concluding we had the
necessary tools including a furniture maker's saw which Kent offered to
lend along with his expertise, it was unanimously agreed this is what
we would do. We would start with two corner modules. Planning will
start with the August meeting.
Club Incorporation-- Since we are a chapter under the national ETE,
which is incorporated, we do not seem to need to be specifically
incorporated. Jim pointed out we might need incorporation if we needed
liability insurance coverage if we showed our modules or layouts at
public venues. We need clarification on this. We will defer a decision
to continue incorporation efforts until Steve Young can check on this.
We still need to adopt by-laws.
Scottsdale Rail Fest-- We are on their list and will be notified of
details when they become available.
New Business:
Meeting Dates-- After some discussion, it was unanimously agreed we
would meet on a specific Saturday of the month in the future. There may
be exceptions if that Saturday would be too close to a holiday (e.g.,
Christmas). An e-mail poll will be taken to decide which Saturday of
the month would be chosen. The regular meeting date will be voted upon
at the August meeting.
New Member Recruiting-- CJ will contact Steve Stern, national ETE
membership coordinator, to see if the organization has promotional and
recruiting materials we can use at public shows. Tim will contact
Robert Toole of the San Diego Chapter to learn what they do for
recruiting.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:30 PM.
Respectively submitted,
Tim Johnson, Secretary
