Central Arizona Chapter
April Minutes

Greetings One and All,

"Thank you", to our Tucson members Margrit Laman and Tim & Karen Johnson. Your hospitality was greatly appreciated. We first met at Margrit's fathers house and toured his large Marklin layout. Margrit had coffee and pastries for those that attended. We discussed the best possible ways that the layout could be moved to Margrit's house and agreed that the best time to move it would be when it gets cooler. After a pleasant lunch we went to Tim & Karen's and looked at Tim's grand undertaking of the SBB. It will truly be impressive when the mountains are in place along with the dam and lake.

Our May meeting will be on the 19th at 11:00 AM at my house, 1226 E. Mineral Rd in Gilbert, AZ. Please let me know if you plan to attend and how many will be in your party, as I plan to get a submarine sandwich for our lunch. This meeting will be more of a business meeting as we will be discussing dues and our venture into ETE modules. Hopefully I'll have my garden railroad back up and running, so if you have some LGB equipment bring it along. I'll also set up my HO switching layout and maybe by micro HO layout will be running.

Also May the 5th is the swap meet at the Baptist Church at Central and Bethany Home Rd in Phoenix. I will be there selling some of my excess stuff (sorry American not European) along with Kent (Kent give me a call and will hammer down the logistics).

In regards to our June get together, we will be having that at Kent's and Kent will at that time be allowing our chapter members to purchase items from his fathers collection. Kent, Tim or myself will be putting out further details as the time draws near.

Till we meet again, happy trails to you (sorry I couldn't resist)

Respectfully submitted,
CJ

PS-- Sadly, Sam Taylor, who was intrumental in founding this Chapter, passed away on April 9th. Sam was a great friend to all, and the consumate modeller of trains and ships, as well as an artist and craftsman throughout his career. You can find details of his layout work here: http://members.cox.net/sbb_bls_bahnen/Sam_Taylors_Layout.shtml
